JULY 4,2013----US PARKS SERVICE reopens the STATUE OF LIBERTY after an eight month closing due the storm surge and flooding of HURRICANE SANDY.

JULY 2013---According to the NATIONAL CLIMATIC DATA CENTER-NCDC,"one of the major drivers of US damage costs in 2012 was HURRICANE SANDY coming in at approximately $65 billion dollars in costs to the US.Superstorm SANDY's large size, with tropical storm force winds extended nearly 500 miles from the center, leading to a record storm surge, large scale flooding, wind damage,and mass power outages along much of the east coast of the US." PREPARATIONS FOR SIMILAR EVENTS SHOULD BE STARTED NOW CONSIDERING THAT WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF 2013 HURRICANE SEASON.
